Greenhouse Cold Frames
Depth 923mm, Length to suit Greenhouse
POA
Alitex cold frames have been beautifully designed to be in keeping with the traditional style of your greenhouse. They also enhance the effectiveness of your growing environment. The frames are virtually maintenance free due to being constructed in robust aluminum and powder coated in a color of your choice to match or complement your greenhouse.
The cold frames provide an additional frost-protected environment and create ideal conditions for hardening-off foliage propagated in the glasshouse. They are also suitable for starting off salad crops and over-wintering delicate shrubs.
Using the cold frames is made flexible and easy with the use of metal props on rollers either side of the frame. Whilst also acting as a safety catch, the metal props are adjustable in height. This allows you to benefit from more space, making it easier to access your plants. Ventilation is also flexible, with three different opening positions.
The cold frames are a maximum width of 35.4” but can be built to any length. They can be built to fit against your greenhouse, or as freestanding cold frames. A ground plan showing the required dimensions and tolerances will be prepared by Alitex and should be passed to your nominated builder for preparation of the brickwork.

Cold Frame Vents
We can also install sliding vents at the back of your cold frames in your greenhouse brickwork, to facilitate further control of the air temperature. Please be aware that this must be accounted for when the base is being built.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to have Cold Frames?
Certainly not, like all our accessories, they are optional. You can choose to use them for hardening off your seedlings in early spring or overwintering your plants in colder months.
Is it one size fits all?
No, we’ll collaborate with you to grasp your growing requirements and determine the optimal placement of your cold frames within your greenhouse.
Where can they sit on my greenhouse?
You can opt to have cold frames on one or both sides of your doorway or porch. Alternatively, they can be positioned along a gable end, across the rear wall, or stand completely independently.
Can they be fitted to my greenhouse retrospectively?
Unfortunately, cold frames cannot be retrofitted to your greenhouse since they need to be integrated into the base construction. However, we can construct freestanding cold frames at any time.
